This is where Eric and I will keep ever-changing lists of what we are hoping to accomplish. Some have already been done (but continue to be a goal), others we may hope to achieve soon, and still others may be extremely long-term. The goals themselves are in no particular order. We’ll strike through any items that we feel get accomplished (while others are life-long goals).
Shared List
- Live to give back.
God gave us all we have and we want to live remembering that and sharing our resources with our brothers and sisters who are in need. - Maintain a clean, organized home.
Emphasis on the maintaining part. Nothing ever stays clean, organized, or done, it takes work. Definitely a daily habit. - Get to where cooking and eating organic, whole foods is easy and automatic.
We’re getting there. It just takes learning and practice. - Simplify, do more with less.
- Attend concerts.
- Go on a canoeing/float trip.
- Travel a fair amount.
- Go hiking.
Kara’s List
- Pursue my passion for writing and continue on my current writing projects.
Working diligently on a couple story ideas and learning more about the writing/publishing world. - Make ceramics/pottery again.
I miss that pottery wheel and the sensation of creating. The art and fun is worth getting dirty. - Participate in a 5K.
I’ve never run a true “race” and I think it would be a fun thing to do at least once. If I get fit enough and enjoy a 5K I can imagine doing a 10K at some point (I can’t really see myself doing further distances). - Visit a monastery.
I’m really intrigued with the monastic lifestyle and would really enjoy visiting or taking a retreat in a monastery some day. - Maintain my desired body weight and fitness level.
Of course this is a lifelong journey, but I am very happy with how far I have come with my physical fitness. - Go indoor rock climbing again.
Get some use out of my climbing shoes! Plus, I think Eric will love it. - Play guitar more often.
Learn new things. Have jam sessions with Eric. - Play soccer again in some form.
I really enjoyed playing intramural soccer in college and would love to play again. - Learn how to take better photographs.
Eric’s List
- Go to Ireland.
Visit my ancestor’s homeland. - Climb a mountain.
I would like to have the experience of climbing a mountain, but nothing too extreme. - Be a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).
This is what I want to do for a living. - Ride a train (in the cab with the engineer).
I’ve already ridden a train from Nanjing to Beijing, China, but I want to know what it is like to ride in the engine with the engineer. This could be on a traveling train or a Union Pacific train (which is the one I really want to experience). - Maintain my desired body weight and fitness level.
I have already shed some pounds and I am close to reaching this goal. - Go to Jerusalem without being shot or blown up.
I want to see where my Savior walked. - Go on a mission trip to help with surgeries.
I’d like to do this once I become a CRNA.
